School/Youth Group Options

Children 13 and Under

Children 13 and under can have fun top-rope climbing, bouldering, and slacklining under the close supervision of our staff (staff-to-student ratio of 1:6).  The staff members ensure the students are properly tied in, and operate the belay device as they climb.

Children 14 or Older

Children 14 or older have the opportunity to learn about how to climb and belay safely.  They learn how to safely put on a harness, tie the rope to the harness using a figure-8 follow-through knot, and operate the Grigri belay device to take up slack as their partner climbs, and lower them safely to the padded floor when they reach the top.  After this training (which takes about an hour), they are qualified to climb independently.

School/Youth Group Rate for 3 Hour Session

$27.50/child (HST Included)

Note that this special price is available only at off-peak times: weekdays for events ending by 6 pm, and on weekends for events starting at 6 pm or later. Peak times rate is $40/child special pricing not available during March Break and Winter Break. A deposit is required to confirm the booking, and the group leader must pay the balance on arrival in one payment.

Safety at TNC

True North Climbing takes extra care to make our facility as safe as possible. The climbing area is entirely padded, from the 6” padding in the roped areas to 12” in the advanced bouldering area. Our padding is seamless to reduce the chance of injury when landing on the edge of a pad.  All of our Instructors are certified (by ACMG or CWA) and have first aid training.  As well, we have climbing helmets available at no additional charge for school boards that require them.

Important Note: Please ensure that every child arrives with a properly completed Minor Waiver form signed and initialed by their parent.  Any child that arrives without this necessary form will not be allowed to participate.  We require that the teacher organizing a group visit collect all the waiver forms several days before your event, and carefully review them to make sure all parent initials and signatures are filled in.
