COMPETITION DETAILS

The Fall Swinger is back!  Come join us this September for the next installment of action-packed, fun for everyone, rope climbin’!  We’ve expanded the scope of our last Fall Swinger to now include a whole other round of climbing.  We’ll have our same casual Redpoint Qualifier round as before AND an additional Flash Qualifier round on the day of finals. 

Registration includes entry into either/both rounds, but you don’t have to participate in both if you don’t want (though you definitely should)… 

Want to just jam at your own pace on routes up for an extended period of time?  Prefer the low-pressure vibes of multiple attempts or have other less-cool plans you’ve already committed to on finals day? – No prob, come join us for the Redpoint Round… 

Orrrrr… Do you prefer the thrill of more traditional style flash attempt rope comps? You from another area/gym and just want to join us for the main action, bbq & DJ set on finals day? Sick! come jam with us for the Flash Qualifiers & stick around for finals!  

Or wait…. Are you really a boulderer at heart and don’t know how to do those clippy things and/or have questionable endurance – yo… hit up the top rope category, you can probably hold your breath that long anyways.  How pumpy can it even be if you just dyno to everything? Someone’s got to show those overly static rope climbers how it’s done! 

Not overly optimistic at your shot at making finals competing against all those mega-beasts you’ve seen crushing?  All is not lost, there’s another prize to fight for too!  The most average (median) top rope & lead score from the Flash Qualifier round will win a prize too (shout out to Junction for the idea).  Do your parents proud, be the most average and win!

The point is – everyone’s welcome, it’s going to be sweet and it’s probably raining too much to get on your outdoor proj that weekend anyway, so sign up for the Fall Swinger II!

Still not convinced? Fine.  We got raffle prizes – you could win a rope among other things!  Your rope is probably pretty haggard and you definitely look lucky to me.  We’re also looking to unveil some brand new shiny holds and we already have some crazy setting ideas brewing.. Remember last time that crazy route with all the stalactite volumes and the hand jam? If you didn’t see it, believe me, it was dope and you don’t want to miss this one.

CATEGORIES

Register in either Top Rope or Lead, these categories will be broken down into WOMEN (those who identify as a women) and ANYONE

• TOP ROPE – WOMEN
• TOP ROPE – ANYONE
• LEAD – WOMEN
• LEAD – ANYONE

QUALIFIERS

REDPOINT QUALIFIER ROUND: (SEPT 13-18)

3 Routes per category.  Routes get progressively harder as you go higher.  All attempts have to start from the ground, no crux burns/hangdogging.  There will be about 15 scored zone holds per route, the highest zone hold you get to and control before falling is your score for the route, peer-judged.  You’ll have the better part of a week to come in and work on the routes on your at your own pace, on your own schedule.  You can take as many ground-up attempts as you’d like and we take the score of your best attempt on each route, with flash attempt scores used as tiebreakers.  

*Routes will open up on the 13th as soon as the setting crew finishes with tweaks (likely afternoon/evening) and stay open till closing time on the 18th.  Score due by closing time on the 18th.

**Top 6 per category advance to finals on the 21st. 

FLASH QUALIFIER ROUND: SEPT 21, 10am – 5:30pm

Same as the redpoint round, 3 progressive routes per category, about 15 zone holds per route, peer judged.  This time however, you get one attempt per route, and one bonus extra attempt on one of the routes of your choosing.  The bonus attempt is only used scoring wise as a tiebreaker though, your flash attempt still matters most. 

*Routes open at 10am, first come first served (no running order) and close at 5:30pm.

**An additional 6 per category advance to finals (those who have already qualified won’t be counted if they participate and finish in the top 6 again)

FINALS (Sept 21 @ 6pm)

The combined top 12 from qualifiers will showdown on a single finals route for their category.  Traditional sanctioned comp style format – One onsight attempt only, points per hold, with judges, DJ set building the vibe.  Cash prizes for podium.

OTHER RULES/FINE PRINT TYPE STUFF

• You must be appropriately certified to lead or top rope at True North to participate and bring your own TN certified belayer.  If you need a test on the 21st specifically, let us know ahead of time so we can get an idea on numbers and coordinate.
• We’ll be doing the raffle at finals.  You must be in attendance to win a prize.
• Back Wall and Lead Cave sections will be reserved for the event, only registered competitors can climb the routes.
